under my pillow
this set looks like a Kyary music video threw up on it

The other day we had a Choir Board thing, which I wasn't looking forward to because I was anticipating it consisting primarily of intimidating upperclassmen storming around. All twelve of us had to drag ourselves back to school. It's weird being there when there's not another soul in sight. ("Walking through these empty halls, tears in my eyes.")
("This is where the story ends.")
("This is gOODBYYEE; KNOWING ME KNOWING YOU.")
("THERE AIN'T NOTHIN' WE CAN DO.")
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hlP1lBkviqk
(sorry, not sorry)
(^ Sweden's greatest export, guys. ^)

Where was I?
K, so after we'd all gathered in the choir room, our director made us do one of those 'getting-to-kno-u' exercises ew (you know the drill: "Hi, my name is Alisha, I'm a junior, and I like show tunes." "Hi, my name is Ben, I'm a senior, and I like Metallica." "Hi, my name is Rae, I'm a sophomore, and I like middle-aged Danish actors with nice cheekbones.")
(I didn't really say that.)
(or did i)

Aaaanyway. Afterr finishing the thing, we basically sat around watching "leadership videos" and discussing our "objectives" for next year for three full hours, which is overkill if you ask me. But it's not as though I was going to do something productive with my time had I failed to attend.
After the meeting was adjourned, we all went out to Chilli's together. It was actually really nice and I felt like maybe the Scary Upperclassmen aren't as Scary as I'd taken them for, initially.
Either way, Choir Board should make for an interesting year.

I've been running around delivering job applications for the past two weeks, and although I did get an interview for a position as a movie theater usher, not much is really turning up. I can't get a job because I don't have any previous experience because I've never worked before because I can't get a job because I don't have any previous experience. w00h00 real life is gross.

my resolution for this summer - apart from getting a job - is to diet...not in order to lose weight, but in an attempt at trying to get my skin to clear up (although i wouldn't be opposed to losing a little weight i mean c'mon).
so far it's not going well because yesterday my mom came home with a giant tres leches cake
im off to a great start

One of my oldest friends, who moved away a couple years ago, flew down from northern Cali this morning and we spent the day driving around town. We ate brunch at a Mexican place and then poked around in an antique shop for tacky souvenirs and then went to Paige's boyfriend's house and there were a lot of people there and Savannah accidentally locked my car keys inside the car and we had to fish them out with a hook and Paige's boyfriend OWNS A DUCK THAT JUST WALKS AROUND HIS HOUSE BEING PISSED OFF AT EVERYTHING (???!!!!!1!) and I fell asleep on his bed which I guess was a little awkward but I was really tired and everyone was cool about it and then Savvy and I went to Baskin Robbins and got daiquiri sundaes and then we went to Ashley's and watched a really terrible rom com and that was my day and it was wonderful

uh im pretty sure that's it

o no wait a sec

okay so one piece of news that surfaced during that Choir Board Officer meeting is that MY FAVORITE MUSICAL OF ALL TIME IS GOING TO BE NEXT YEAR'S SCHOOL MUSICAL

U DONT UNDERSTAND I AM SO EXCITED

hhhhh I wish I hadn't waited so long before reviewing Trigun because I really loved it but I can't recall exactly why. (Mark me, I'm not entirely sure I knew why I liked it so much /whilst/ I was watching it, but that is another matter entirely).

Wolfwood's nose tho I mean
/someone/ was a tucan in a previous life

I advanced to State UIL Solo & Ensemble, which means that last weekend I got to clamber onto a teenager-laden bus and watch ~*:・✧inspirational football movies*:・゚✧~ for close to five hours.
When we got off the bus it was raining cats and dogs and babies and all manner of things (it never rains in texas ha ha ha) and the hotel made you PAY for their shitty continental breakfast but I suppose that's just as well, seeing as you can't really eat/drink much before a competition anyway because it compromises the sound.
Got to walk around the UT campus in the pouring rain for ages. You can bet that was fun. At least we didn't have to carry around humidity-absorbent wooden instruments like the orchestra kids did, though.
Then they switched my performance slot and my director "forgot" to tell me and so I didn't have time to warm up and I sang possibly the worst I've ever sung in public before.
I landed a 2 somehow. Maybe the judge was deaf idk.
I know I'm complaining a lot but really it was an awesome trip - I love getting out of town and any change we get is just really nice, tbh.

The only other big thing that happened before school ended was our last Choir Concert, at which one of my oldest friends sang an AMAZING cover of "Frankenstein + Bride" that almost brought me to tears and then the show choir bopped about on stage for a bit. Most of the other stuff wasn't worth recounting, but the real highlight was when the entirety of the Varsity Womens' Choir got up there and sang a choral rendition of "Twenty One Guns", accompanied by Jamie Luther and some of his mates on the electric guitar. It was completely breathtaking.
I mean do you ever. Well. Like. I'm definitely an atheist but sometimes when I'm listening to something that's /really/ good already and then I hear certain chords or harmonies or whatever and it's sorta like

sweet damn i see da lite

Emma and I finished watching End of Evangellesbians together and it was a glorious, rollicking time consisting primarily of us screaming GET IN THE ROBOT SHINJI at the top of our lungs. Ah, the memories.

well schools over so everything is wonderful wonderful wonderful well except the heat but y'know

Hey listen to this cover it's lovely ya
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bf8Tda6rmi4

Went to a party the other day and my friend who moved away at the end of 9th grade and whom I haven't seen in almost a year was there, and we talked about cute things like baby goats and cannibalistic rabbits and danced to cumbia and once it got dark we all laid out on the lawn and stared at a lava lamp and everything was wonderful.

On Friday I went camping with Emma's family and it was fantastic. We went to Balmorhea, which is this expansive spring water pool and it's crystal clear and you can see all the minnows and these giant catfish and everything. They had a fifteen-foot highdive board there too, which I stood at the top of for something like ten minutes. (I was eventually prompted to jump off of it by Emms shouting "GET IN THE POOL SHINJI" at me for a very long time beforehand).
Other camping experiences included getting chatted-up by a very kind but very drunk middle-aged woman, cooking pad-thai, speaking in a Russian accent for close to twenty-four hours, and doing some fabulous stargazing.

o hey so I am very aware that I missed a bunch of people's birthdays because I was really busy and stressed out yes so I /will/ make you all latelatelate birthday sets before the week is up I promise:

This morning my mum and I went to the Chicken Art Farm (it's that chicken farm that they turned into artists' studios ya i think i've mentioned it b4 ya) and this darling old lady gave me a free amaretto coffee and Leila (the girl who did that fantastic solo at the Concert) played "Frankenstein + Bride" again and it was just as good as the first time.

This is the song.

The original is nowhere near as good as her cover. That girl has one helluva voice on her.

I made my summer lists ya

I think I'm gonna manage it by reading a book per week an watching at least an episode of a live-action show and an episode of an anime per day. I'll hit the movie lists on the weekends mayb idk.

I'm also currently job-hunting so a lot of this probably won't even work out.
Job-hunting and Whammying come first, ofc.

We got a hot crustacean band.

We got a hot crustacean band.
So like (intelligent way to start sentances <<<). TV shows have theme songs that air before each episode; similarly, I have a phrase that tends to appear at the beginning of the "notes" on all my sets. The jingle goes something like, "sorry i havent been online, ive been very busy".
Perhaps you're familiar with it?

did that sound bitter whoops

But I have six days (albeit six group project-filled days) of school left, so hopefully you won't be hearing my jingle again 'til the end of the summer.

The Choir Banquet was last weekend. I only went because I felt I was expected to go since I didn't go to the one freshman year, and plus free Mexican food right. I wore this floaty white dress from the 60's that I bought for five bucks at the Civic Theater's annual costume-sale thing. The skirt was kinda (a lot) see-through but I wore it because I didn't give a shit. Except they cALLED ME UP ONSTAGE IN A SEE-THROUGH SKIRT THAT EVERYONE TAUNTED ME MERCILESSLY ABOUT THE NEXT DAY.
But I guess it was okay, 'cause I got called up to receive an award. :)
I got the Student's Choice Award, which actually made me super happy because apparently the entire sophomore choir class likes me enough to vote to give me this thing, as opposed to the other awards, the winners of which were chosen by our directors.
After the serious awards were over we did Gag Awards. I won a blinged-out composition notebook and some Central High pencils for being "most likely to be working on history homework during warm-ups".
And then apparently i also landed the chair of Associate Librarian for next year's Choir Board like the pu$$$y I am. Wooo. (◕‿◕✿)

Took the World History AP test on Thursday. Predictably, I was terrified beforehand but felt alright while taking it. The multiple choice questions were easy as pie. They didn't ask any questions on French Enlightenment philosophers or on the Islamic Gunpowder Empires though, which bordered on disappointing because I crammed that stuff the night before.
Honestly my APWH teacher is an all-around amazing woman. She may have been a legitimate real-life crazy cat lady, but ended up being one of the best teachers I've ever had. Hardcore feminist, biggest fan of the Mongolian Empire you will ever meet. She was incredibly strict and incredibly enthusiastic. The woman actually made ALL her students tee shirts with Genghis Khan's face printed on them (captioned "Yes We Khan" on the back), which we wore into the testing room.
Granted, I /am/ a little worried about my score. The multiple choice was easy and so were the first two essays. But I only got as far as finishing my thesis statement on the third essay before the time ran out. :/
I'd rather not think too hard about it tbh.

"Little Mermaid" was this past few days and it was perfect. The casting was excellent, the set looked fuckin fabulous, and production weekend went off without a hitch.
I made a lot of friends and the older members of the cast invited me out to post-show dinner with them at Crapplebee's on Opening Night, which really made me feel like I'd been accepted into the group - plus I got to wear a Viking hat.
We practically terrorized the applebee's staff. Post-show dinners are literally the reason theater kids are banned from iHop.
On the downside, for a lot of people, "Little Mermaid" was their last show in town because they're graduating and going off to college. Which didn't do wonders for the vague cloud of mild social anxiety that pervades my very essence because I'm one of those people who gets attached and misses everyone and the thought of having to make new friends next production is outright daunting.
And I really hate feeling like I'm losing people who're close to me. After striking the set on Sunday, everyone was crying and hugging each other and this morning I woke up and realized that I don't have to drive to the Auditorium anymore, which made me slightly sad.
But I'll be back there in no time. The first of the summer shows ("Wizard of Oz", followed by "Aladin",) are only weeks away, and I believe I'm signed up to tech.
Backstage photos from "Mermaid" will be uploaded to Facebook asap. I only mention this because the fish costumes were really wonderful. They looked like modern art.

I broke up with my boyfriend the other day. It was high time. Honestly, I feel a lot better now that it's over.

O hey.
Saw "Gatsby" the Friday night before last.
✖ atmospherically, it was perfect
✖ in terms of costuming, music, and set design, it was perfect
✖ I loved all of the casting
✖ EXCEPT for Leonardo DiCaprio
✖ which, obviously, was a major problem for me, because, uh, well, he's Gatsby so
✖ yeah, problematic
✖ It wasn't that he was bad. On the contrary, Leo's acting was stellar. He just wasn't Jay Gatsby. The Gatsby in the book and the Gatsby portrayed by DiCaprio were different people.
✖ i think this was partly due to the fact that Leo is nearly twenty years older than the Gatsby in the book, so his energy came from a different place
✖ if you kno wat i mean
✖ but other than that, it was flawless
✖ the rest of the casting was stellar
✖ Carrey Mulligan was radiant. She emitted light. She WAS Daisy Buchanan.
✖ the woman playing Jordan Baker was also perf

that's my opinion on the Gatsby movie in a nutshell

: )

Found some nice music but I'm too tired to go fishing for links at this time of night.

(well)

It's my absolute favorite LM song - and it's not in the movie, which is a real shame.
After listening to Mikayla (our Ursula) sing it for four months straight, it's a little disorienting to hear some random woman sing it. I think Mikayla sang it much better anyway, but this was the version on youtube so.

(Rehearsals got confusing as fck because the girl playing Ariel is called Michaela and Ursula was called Mikayla, pronounced the exactly the same. Eventually we had to resort to just using character names.)

(Hey, did I ever tell you guys about the time I was mistaken for this singer? Yeah, this past summer I was in NYC, buying Doc Martins in this shop in Soho, and one of the employees came up to me and asked me if I was Grimes. I think it was because it was before my dip-dye faded, so half my hair was bright pink, and my bangs were cut way too short. I looked a lot like her in the above video ^).

We took the chem STAAR today. Considering the fact that I fell asleep in that class on the first day of school and have spent literally the entire year since asleep, I feel that I did okay. I probably didn't fail. Probably. Now that that's over I can almost relax.
Of course, we still have the AP World History exam looming in the near future, but at least I know my shit when it comes to history.

"Gatsby"s out soon. God, I am so excited.
Baz Lehrman is my favorite director, and as dubious as I was at first about Di Caprio being cast as Jay, I'm sure he won't disappoint. He never does.
Carrie has grown into a beautiful woman and I am endlessly happy about /that/ casting decision.

Anyway.
Lately I've caught a few people reading the wrong things at the wrong times. The other day, for instance, I was creepin' on one of my Alto friends, and I went behind her and noticed she was reading SPN fiction on her phone.
And there's this guy in my English class (one of those kinda popular-ish, sort of preppy, jock-ish types) who sits behind me and is /constantly/ scrolling on his phone. And about a week ago, I ended up going to sharpen my pencil at the pencil sharpener (redundancy upon redundancy), which is conveniently located behind his desk...and the fellow was reading Shojou manga.
According to his friends, that's literally all he's been doing all year in English II.

So the other day in choir we took a vote on section-leaders. And I did not volunteer, but everyone nominated me anyway, and long-story-short I am now Leader of the Second's.

Hhhhhhh ¬___¬ Like I know I should be flattered but tbh it's too late in the year for me to put forth any effort into academics, let alone into electives.

"Little Mermaid" is progressing alright. ◕‿◕I'm beginning to get psyched out for the production, and we're just barely into Pre-tech.
The fish costumes look so fabulously ridiculous.

I had other shit to say but I can't recall what exactly.

sea of pines
So yesterday proved to be a lesson in why white people should stick to making white people food. Emma and I were mooching around the Korean Market in search of citrus tea, and I stumbled upon some rice flour. And we decided we were gonna make injeolmi right then and there, so I bought the rice flour and we went home and struggled with dough for about an hour.

woooO000Oooo 4/20 baking

(i could make so many 'baked' puns right now man)
(but i'll spare u)

Anyway, rice flour is completely different from wheat flour and it sticks to everything. We finished making them, but they didn't turn out so well, and in the end we just abandoned our creation on the kitchen table. High-class chefs that we are.

I find it kinda funny how in fifth grade I was bullied cause I couldnt afford more than one pair of jeans and now I could buy twenty pairs of jeans if I wanted to but I wear the same pair pretty much every day and I really hope nobody notices.

Oh yeah.
Our official UIL ratings for sightreading came in the other day.
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAhahahahahahahahahahahaha.

My favorite band has a new album out, and it's pretty fuckin sick if you ask me, so give it a try.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jpGtkz-449U
My favorite songs are Sacrilage (01:15), Subway (6:45), Area 52 (31:36), and Mosquito (12:45). asdfg They're all just great ok.

wow every time I hear Carry On My Wayward Son I feel like eighth grade is punching me in the face

I still have three bags of rice flour left over. Help.

I found my superduper old copy of One Thousand and One Nights. I read that shit over and over when I was little. Honestly, I think that's why I couldn't get more than half an episode into Magi. Because it was all based off of those stories, only there was too much bullshit and I got angry.

Gotta finish cleaning the room, gotta get dolled up enough to look semi-presentable, gotta head to rehearsal, gotta sing, gotta do homework.

Apart from the internet, what do you like to do in your spare time?
Read, draw, watch anime and movies and crime thrillers, etc. Mostly I just hang out with people though. Hang out and walk around town or go get coffee or go to lame civic events like that museum exhibition the other day. And a lot of the time we make food and watch movies together. Idk.

Name a favorite of each: food, drink, color.
Spaghetti, ribena, pale blue.

If you married rich and your spouse gave you $100,000 a week, what would you spend it on?
I would travel everywhere. Probably without my trophy husband. Idk. Live in Monaco on a beach, surrounded by alcohol and hot babes. Yeah that sounds about accurate.

Do you have a celebrity look-alike?
I get told I look like Dakota Fanning a lot. I also get told I look like that girl from Super 8. Wait, that's Elle Fanning. Wow. Okay.

Name a favorite of each: book, movie, tv show.
Never Let Me Go, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Black Books.

If you were given the opportunity to spend 48 hours with a deceased person, who would you spend it with and what would you do?
I would buy Lizzie pizza and ask her about her day and tell her how amazing she is. Was.

Name a LEAST favorite of each: food, drink, color.
Meatloaf, chocolate milk, burnt-orange.

What is the first initial of the name of the person you like/love?
G

What kind of underwear do you prefer wearing?
The cutesy frilly lolita-y kind?

Name a LEAST favorite of each: book, movie, tv show.
Twilight (and also the majority of supernatural romance aimed at teenage girls), football movies (and also Bee Movie), Kind of the Nerds.

If you were sat on a plane beside your favorite celebrity, what would you do?
Attempt to start a conversation with them, as if they were any old random citizen. And probably fail miserably due to nerves. And eventually just end up admitting that I'm a huge fan and apologizing profusely and then pretending to sleep for the rest of the journey.

What is the strangest thing you have in your room? (You are not allowed to explain why you own it.)
A cardstock cutout of Corny Collins with Rylan's face taped to it.

What is a weird habit you have, or people have told you have. (Weird, not bad. No nail biting or any of that nonsense.)
I flip off inanimate objects a lot. Usually security cameras, but sometimes statues.

What would you consider to be the biggest insult to yourself?
If someone were to insult my intelligence. Like, I honestly wouldn't be that bothered if someone called me ugly or annoying or something. But people refusing to acknowledge my intelligence/talking to me as if I'm an idiot just makes me livid.

What are five things you absolutely have to have in your dream house?
For starters, the house itself has to be a small apartment several stories up, has to have a small balcony, a fantastic view, tons of potted/hanging plants, and has to have one of those overhead-hanging dish racks that you have to hoist up.

If you could be reincarnated as any animal, which would you chose and why?
A bird, so that I could fly. Wow that sounded dumber when I typed it, but smd. Life as a house cat would be pretty damn luxurious too tho.

Which band (current or past) would you want to go on tour* with? (*Travel with, not preform with.)
The Beatles? Or maybe the Stones. They did the wildest shit.

Name a favorite of each: band, album, song.
Yeah Yeah Yeah's, It's Blitz, Y Control.

Why is your favorite band your favorite?
They have an amazingly versatile sound, they aren't afraid to experiment with different types of music (even if there's a risk that the fans would disagree), and the frontwoman/lead singer is just a phenomenal performance artist. In a nutshell.

Who do you ship?
Myself with all the hot babes.

What band merch do you own?
Homemade YYY's tee, Joy Division tee, Brand New poster.

How did you learn of the band that is currently your favorite?
I think I was at someone's house and we were playing Rockband and I was forced to sing. It was in seventh grade???

Which member from which band would you most want to lather in nutella?
All of Shinee.

How did this set turn out this way. 'Tis a miracle.
fkhgkhgkhgh
UIL for choir was today. The busses left around seven. I guess we were assigned a later performance time because last year we had to leave at five in order to accommodate the four-hour drive to Midland.
Midland is one of those cities that puzzles me. It's completely desolate, yet it has a huge population. I just can't understand why anyone would want to live there. I mean, it's the middle of nowhere. (For those of you who haven't witnessed the geographical void that is Midland, Texas, firsthand - it's where they filmed Trigun).
(I jest).
(Trigun wasn't filmed).
(But the animators probably went location-scouting there).
Naturally, they always send us there for competition because of its central location i guess idk they must have some reason???

My mother bought this weird juice. The first thing that clued me in was the fact that it's labeled "Orange /drink/". It's kind of gross and kind of addictive. I think it's a clorox byproduct of some sort.

Anyway, we performed our songs really well, but our sightreading was catastrophe. We haven't gotten our official ratings yet, but I'm not exactly awaiting the moment with bated breath. -___- In fact I shiver at the thought.

Elk are so cool. They sound like a noise one would make when confronted with a giant rubber spider or something.

I was on my dad's phone the other day and I uncovered selfies of him, of the overhead-shot variety that are normally associated with teenage girls. I'm not sure how I feel about this.

Ooh there's a nature program on PBS entitled "The Mystery of Eels". Heh.
Oh wait nvm. It's a travel show about Australia. The eel one is next week. Is it sad that I'm marginally disappointed. That was not a question.
The Australian outback vaguely resembles Midland. They'e both tumbleweed-ridden wastelands full of marsupials.

I thought I would be driving around like an independent woman a lot more than I am. Things haven't really changed since I got my license. kfhfkfk I've been having serious road trip urges lately. The last road trip I went on was with Ashley's family, to Galveston, in the summer. Her parents really like classic rock. They really like it. I'm pretty sure I heard the entire Supernatural soundtrack at least three times over the course of the five-day trip. But it was better than having to listen to the same Elton John cd on repeat for hours, which is what usually happens on Glassford family road trips.

The live-action movie of Animal Farm is really terrible. Borders on horrific. On a scale of one to Berserk, it's easily a six and it should be illegal to make your students watch it.

I could really go for some craft mac n' cheese right about now.

vash is too precious
